The Solar Irradiance Platform (SIP), formerly the SOLAR2000 irradiance specification tool, produces the variable, full solar spectrum in assorted spectral formats for historical, nowcast, and forecast applications. In addition, it produces an array of solar irradiance and thermospheric proxies. The Solar Irradiance Platform is a available at a very reasonable cost for individual or institutional customers (click here for pricing and ordering information). A single-use 30-day evaluation version of SIP is available. If you order the license, and activate it with a order number key, it will operate according to the type of license purchased. Note that various incentives for 1-year licenses are offered.(Click on the image at right for a larger image and additional information)

UPGRADES AND RELEASE NOTES
To begin, you can download and install a complete single-use evaluation version of SIP via our SET registration page. SIP will expire after 30 days of use, and SIP will operate only with a limited set of historical data. Please note that you must register and use a license key to run SIP.
To install SIP under Linux:
1) download the linux_dist_*.gz file to you preferred directory location (e.g., your Desktop)
2) within an X-window (i.e., terminal window), proceed to execute the following steps:
3) tar xzf dist_linux.tar.gz
this will create a dist_v2_37 directory
4) cd dist_v2_37
5) you will need root access to execute the setup:
6) Read the license setup (use the space bar to advance to the end of the agreement)
7) Confirm you agree to the license by typing the character y
You should see the following messages:
*** Configuring the IDL virtual machine ***
*** Configuring the SIP application ***
SIP configured. Use './launch_sip' to start the application
8) At this point, you can launch sip from either a terminal window (./launch_sip), or by simply double-clicking on the launch_sip icon
Some users of SIP have computers that are behind a proxy/firewall, and will need a text file to edit to enable SIP to acquire real-time data (SIP_Professional_Grade version) by "tunneling" through your installations firewall. Once you contact your system administrator and get the IP name or number and a port number, you edit this file in a text editor and save it as a plain ASCII text file, and place it in your SIP directory.
If the file link above does not work, click here and cut & paste the file into a text editor.
This release of SIP has been tested on Windows 7, Vista, and XP, Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), and Debian GNU/Linux.
