Space Environment Technologies (SET) and the National Oceanic and Services Administration Space Environment Center (NOAA/SEC) have a close collaborative relationship, partnering through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA). Officially signed May 2, 2000, the CRADA provides the vehicle for NOAA/SEC and Space Environment Technologies to jointly develop real-time and forecast space weather services for both the public and private sectors. Additionally, Dave Bouwer (SET Chief Engineer) is located at NOAA/SEC, enabling SET to maintain the highest level of support for SET and NOAA/SEC operational SOLAR2000 products and related research and development.
As a result, NOAA/SEC uses a SOLAR2000 operational model developed by SET to provide E10.7 and other SOLAR2000 data as official NOAA/SEC nowcast products. The SEC Space Weather Operations (SWO) verifies the operational E10.7 nowcast on a daily basis, and SET verifies their SOLAR2000 nowcasts in comparison to the SEC nowcasts as well. This results in a highly reliable nowcast product.
Furthermore, SET monitors other NOAA/SEC data products regularly. Some of our favorite NOAA/SEC links are:
