Introduction

Our goal is to satisfy our customer needs associated with space weather by providing them with the tools that avoid or mitigate threats to life, services (revenue stream), and facilities due to risks associated with the space environment. Products and services are developed for customers with diverse needs or for unique components of a single customer's business. We use and add value to space physics measurements and models where expertise in space physics is one of our core capabilities.

It is with this vision that SOLAR2000 provides models of the Sun's irradiance which can be used with other space physics models. The research grade version of the model is available (free of charge under the agreement below) for scientific and engineering research.

To download historical and miscellaneous data please see the DATA tab at the top of this page.

ISO SOLAR IRRADIANCE STANDARD COMPLIANCE:

SOLAR2000 Research Grade empirical solar irradiance model is developed for compliance with the draft International Standards Organization (ISO) solar irradiance standard. A copy of this draft standard can be reviewed at the SpaceWx.com web site.

YOUR REGISTRATION AND OUR PRIVACY POLICY:

We ask that you register your downloaded copy of SOLAR2000 Research Grade empirical solar irradiance model. This registration helps us in two ways: it gives us a mailing list for upgrade notices and it gives us a metric for reporting the research community usage of SOLAR2000 to our sponsors. We adhere to a strict policy of non-disclosure of individual researcher names and institutional affiliations in our sponsor reporting. We do not sell or provide organizations outside of SpaceWx.com your name or institutional affiliation. In return, we provide you with the state-of-the art solar irradiance tool for scientific and engineering research applications.

Downloading nowcast files

The current nowcast and 1-day forcast files and plots are freely available either by clicking on the SpaceWx index page or by vising our http://www.spacewx.com/data/ site. If your browser fails to work using an ftp URL, you can use an ftp appliction by an ftp ftp.spacewx.com, then using the username spcusr and password usrspc. In some instances, once logging in, any commands (e.g., "ls") will seem to "hang".  Try logging in again, but type "epsv4" as the first command.

Additional information about data files and plots can be found from the top "Data" tab on every SpaceWx.com web page

Getting historical and other miscellaneous files

Historical E10.7, Lyman-alpha, and other data for up to 5 solar cycles, as well as miscellaneous plots and figures frequently requested, are located at the ftp://spcusr:usrspc@ftp.spacewx.com/misc/ site.

Additional information about data files and plots can be found from the top "Data" tab on every SpaceWx.com web page

Downloading the Research Systems free virtual-machine(IDL VM™) runtime utility

Go to the RSI/IDL download site and follow the instructions there for installing this free application, which is necessary if you do not have IDL already installed on your computer.
